Good design often grows out of a clear, simple concept. However, delivering a well-designed building can be complex! Building professionals are asked to provide visually pleasing buildings that work functionally, create healthy, comfortable indoor environments, have good energy performance, and deliver financial value to the owner. California’s 2016 Title 24 Building Energy Standards for Nonresidential Buildings also call for energy performance goals to be established early and reviewed by the team prior to beginning design. The Title 24 Standards also include requirements for design review and commissioning. Regardless of project delivery method, a more collaborative, better integrated approach to design, construction, and post-occupancy operations can better serve the interests of everyone involved.
To assist building professionals in this changing environment, PG&E’s Energy Training Centers and AIASF are offering a series of sessions on integrated design and skills that can make the process more effective. While participation in the entire series is encouraged, each session stands on its own and can be attended separate from the series.
The first session is on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at AIASF. Registration is through PG&E’s Energy Training Centers at www.pge.com/energyclasses or via the links below for the individual programs. All programs qualify for AIA CES learning units with HSW.
